The SCUPA Scoop: Christmas Project Update

Dear members,

I am happy to say that every item on our list was adopted by someone!  Thank you all so very much!!!  If you intended to participate but did not get to me in time, you can still participate.  The clothing items, especially the underwear and diapers, are items that can be duplicated as they are always in need.  Just let me know.

If you have volunteered to purchase items, I do need all items no later than Wednesday, November 30th.  I am happy to come to you to pick up if needed.  Remember, do NOT wrap any of the items.  If you want to include some wrapping paper and bows, please feel free but it is not necessary.  Please call or email me - (864) 239-4034 or dorothy.huskey@mgclaw.com - to arrange for me to get your items.  If you want to drop them by my office, feel free to call me first so I can meet you outside so you won't have to park in the garage.  Let me know how best to assist.

Thank you for making this holiday season just a little brighter for this family.  You are all the most amazing people I know!

1. Let me know the child/item you wish to fulfill.  It is ok to do more than one child/more than one item.  It is ok to go in with another person and share responsiblity.
2. I need all gifts no later than November 30, 2011.
3. Do not wrap anything.  You can donate wrapping paper, tissue, tags, etc., but no wrapping.  Put your item(s) in a plastic or paper bag with the child's name on it.
4. If you have unable to deliver to me, I will come to you.  Just let me know what you need.

Remember, even if Christmas is not a holiday you celebrate, think of the joy we can give three children.  Additionally, clothing items are always needed.  I hope you will assist me in making this last service project a success.

Thank you all so much for the pleasure of leading our charity events over the years.  Nothing in the world has given me more pleasure or satisfaction.  We definitely made a presence in the community and have several organizations who truly depend on us.  I highly recommend this committee if you want to contribute in a very important way to SCUPA and to the community, and more importantly, if you want to contribute to your own heart.

The SCUPA Scoop: Harvest Hope Reminder

Dear Members,

This is a reminder to bring your canned goods and non-perishable food items to the November 10 luncheon. Sharon Savage with Harvest Hope will be on hand to collect all these items for distribution to area soup kitchens and needy families here in our area.

I received word today from a non-member who is employed in the Greenville office of Love, Thornton, Arnold & Thomason. They received word of this service project and asked to be involved. They also sent a challenge to me to get my office involved. I have done so and offer the challenge to each of you. Ask your office and co-workers to join in this project with us. We overwelmed Harvest Hope last year. I think we can top it. There are more hungry people in the upstate than ever before. In this time of Thanksgiving, let's remember all those less fortunate. Even the smallest contribution will help.

Thank you all again! I'm so proud of this amazing organization.

The SCUPA Scoop: Letter from the President

Dear members,

As 2011 draws to a close, we begin to look forward to a new year and new beginnings.  In this regard, SCUPA will elect its Executive Officers for 2012 during our next luncheon on November 10, 2011.  SCUPA is a wonderful organization of professionals dedicated to the legal field.  Like spokes on a bicycle tire, each and every member unites to form a useful tool.  Standing alone a single spoke from the wheel could be useful, but when combined with an axle, rim and tire, we transform into a reliable mode of transportation.

We hope that each of you will attend the November luncheon and participate in the selection of our new officers - the future of SCUPA.  We also hope that you will continue to be active in SCUPA, whether by serving as an officer, committee member or simply by attending SCUPA's programs.  SCUPA's success depends upon contributions of all of its members - no contribution is ever too small.

Finally, I thank each of you for the privilege of having been elected as an officer of SCUPA.  I have thoroughly enjoyed and grown from the yearse I have served on SCUPA's Board.  For those of you who may have considered participating more in SCUPA's activities but may have been afraid to do so, I encourage you to dive in and take the opportunity to fully experience our wonderful organization.

I look forward to seeing each of you at the November luncheon, and hope that you will join us for our holiday party on December 10th at the Brick Street Cafe.

With kind regards,
Melissia
